-
What parking and EV charging facilities are there?
There is ample parking adjacent to each of the cottages, and a large parking area across the track from the Farmhouse. This can also serve as overflow parking for the cottages should you need it. At Mornacott we have three EV charging points. One at Barn Cottage, one at Orchard Cottage and one in the carpark, adjacent to The Farmhouse and The Old Stables, they are set to night-time charging.

Are there any local markets?
The town of South Molton is just five miles from Mornacott, and has a range of facilities including a Post Office, several banks (with cash points) and a supermarket.
It also hosts a livestock (nowadays just sheep) market on Thursdays and an excellent pannier market every Thursday and Saturday morning which is worth a visit.
Barnstaple (16 miles away) offers a greater range of shops, and has its own historic pannier market which operates between Tuesday and Saturday. Tiverton (19 miles away) likewise has a general market on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, and a second-hand goods market on Monday.
-
Where is the closest beach?
The nearest beach to Mornacott is Saunton Sands, situated 23 miles away. This provides eight kilometres of golden sands with the beautiful dunescape of Braunton Burrows in the background. This is one of the largest sand dune systems in the UK and is designated a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve.
Other recommended beaches nearby include Croyde (27 miles), Putsborough (27 miles) and Woolacombe (31 miles).
-
Can we walk to the local pub?
None of the local pubs are within easy walking distance, but there are several good options within a short drive.
We recommend The Stag’s Head Inn at Filleigh (7 miles), The Mason’s Arms in Knowstone (8 miles), The Grove Inn at King’s Nympton (10 miles) and The Bell ain Chittlehampton (10 miles).
-
Can we arrange to have a supermarket order delivered and put away in advance of our arrival?
This is certainly possible as long as a staff member is onsite. Please advise when booking if this is something that you will require and we can ensure we have the team in place to help. We ask that any orders be delivered no more than an hour prior to your arrival.
-
Can we book a private chef?
Yes, we have a resident chef who can come to your cottage and prepare a luxury three course dinner for a special occasion, or if you just feel like treating yourself!
Please check out his website https://nomadlarder.co.uk/ for more information and contact details.
-
What wildlife activities are there?
With advance notice we can arrange a farm tour to visit the animals, and there may be certain opportunities through the seasons to get involved with certain farmyard activities should you wish.
Towards the north of the estate (located on one of our recommended estate walks) we have a deer hide. This is a specially constructed deer viewing hide where groups of up to six people can secure themselves in a high weatherproof cabin overlooking Exmoor. From this vantage point one can regularly view (often at very close quarters) transient herds of Exmoor’s famous red deer.
We can also arrange a two-hour wildlife safari for you, to view the many activities of various animals such as foxes, badgers, owls and deer. The best time to enjoy the wildlife is either at dawn or dusk.
-
Can we collect eggs?
Absolutely! This is a lovely thing to do, and what better way to start the day than with fresh farm eggs?
-
When can we use the games room?
Both our games room and sports field are free for all to use and are always open.
-
Can we bring our bicycles?
Yes of course!
-
Are dogs allowed?
Dogs are currently welcome at the Farmhouse, Orchard Cottage and The Old Stables, which have enclosed gardens perfect for canine companions. Unfortunately Barn Cottage is not dog friendly.
